About Me!

I am Utpal Bora (pronouncing /ʊtpɒl bɒrʌ/) (pronouns he/him), a PostDoc at University of Cambridge, UK.
I grew up in a remote village in Malow Pothar, Jorhat—a place 280km to the east of Guwahati. Malow Pothar is well known for its superior quality doi (curd) and sheer abundance of crops and vegetables. Fisheries and paddy fields are reminiscent of my childhood: me running after cows as a herder, catching fish with bare hands in the muddy fields, swimming in the pond for hours, finding and eating sweet bogori (jujube), helping elders in planting saplings, walking on bumpy narrow roads in the golden paddy fields, and uncountable other memories. The transition of a little boy from an outlying village in the North Eastern India to a researcher at the University of Cambridge in England has been gradual but utopic.

I have been living out of my hometown for the past 18 years and every now and then I miss the greenery and frequent showers. Hoping to go back to Assam pretty soon.
